Hi.

I'm Kerra Michele, and this is my dog, Lunchbox. Welcome to our blog! We generally write about easy tips to make a rental space feel more like home, but we also talk about our life and travels. I hope you like our stories and adventures!

{Reader Submission} Jessie's Pink Bathroom

Jessie has a very pink bathroom and she's not sure what to do with it. She's a renter so can't do anything drastic, but she did paint the cabinets white and change the hardware out to something silver (Bravo!). Let's take a look at her photos and see if we can't help her out, shall we?

That said, pink tile requires equally bold design choices to make it look modern. Meaning you have to embrace the pink. OWN IT. Pretend you picked the pink and it's your very favorite color in the whole world.

Easy + Fast

  • Paint the walls. Perhaps this has already been done, but I think the walls would look lovely in a silvery-gray color. Since the floor tile grout is gray, this would still work. The silvery-gray would really make the pink tile pop! And it would look great against all the metallic silver hardware.
  • Hang framed art.  There should be at least one big frame above the toilet and at least 2-3 to the left of the mirror in the big empty spaces. I would recommend either white or silver frames with white mats.
  • Add some furniture. I think you need a tufted stool underneath the counter. Cutie!
  • Add fancy accessories. Anything on display should be beautiful! Trashcans, towels, toiletries, and everything else you can see should go along with the overall design. Think of the pink tile as an excuse to treat yourself to some gorgeous towels!

  • Switch out the mirror. I'm very familiar with the cheap apartment mirrors. No frame. Not cute. Take it down and put up something a little more fabulous! Also acceptable: Make your own frame! If you have the space and the know-how, use simple white molding to create a frame around your existing mirror. This pink bathroom demonstrates both of these tricky tricks in action!

  • Put up removable wallpaper or stencil the walls. If you're artsy enough, paint designs yourself! Adding a graphic design element to the walls would really make your bathroom special. Use an especially feminine design, like flowers, or go more mid-century with a mod print.

If all these elements are put together, you could end up with something truly magnificent! This bathroom is an example of how you can embrace the pink tile and put something together that makes you proud of it.
